This is the first work that I attempt to present in a fully bi-lingual format in both English and Spanish. The texts that are included in the website No estoy seguro en nuestros nombres/I’m not sure I remember all of our names are presented first in the originating language that they were written or shared in.* Having emigrated from Mexico as a young child, my process of recovering fluency in Spanish has been spotty at best, my aunts still regularly correct me and I retain this habit of inventing anglicized words when my vocabulary is insufficient. Which is to say, often. I thus confess that the texts that are included here are translated into Spanish and English as necessary, to the best of my ability, they are faithful representations at the very least of how I understand them in this moment, and of how I interpret the relations that shared them with me.
With the exception of the contributions made by Nubia Santiago and Paola Quiróz Cruz, I am solely responsible for these translations. Save for the responsibility borne by my father, Oscar Mauricio Bernardo Lira Espinosa, who spent countless hours listening to me and acquiescing to my questionable arguments for sentences that probably violate grammar in both languages. To my aunts, I apologize.

Esta es la primer obra que intento presentar en un formato completamente bilingüe en español e inglés. Los textos que están incluidos en las páginas del proyecto No Estoy Seguro en Nuestros Nombres / I’m Not Sure I Remember All of Our Names aquí se presentan primero en el idioma originario en el cual fueron escritos o compartidos.* Debido a mi emigración de Mexico cuando era un niño chiquito, el proceso de recuperar mi fluidez en español ha sido dudosa en el mejor de los casos, mis tías todavía me corrigen con frecuencia y yo retengo el habito de inventar palabras anglicalizadas cuando mi vocabulario es insuficiente. Que es decir, con frecuencia. Así, confieso que los textos que están incluidos aquí están traducidos al español y al inglés como sea necesario, con lo mejor de mis habilidades, son representaciones fieles a lo menos de como yo las entiendo en su momento, y de como interpreto las relaciones que compartieron esto conmigo.
Con la excepción de las contribuciones hechas por Nubia Santiago y Paola Quiróz Cruz, yo soy únicamente responsable por estas traducciones. Salvo por la responsabilidad que corresponde a mi padre, Oscar Mauricio Bernardo Lira Espinosa, que paso horas sin fin, una tras otra, escuchando y cediendo ante argumentos dudosos para frases que probablemente rompen con reglas gramaticales en ambos idiomas.
